New Years is a time of making resolutions and challenging ourselves to do better. I don’t know about you, but any resolution that I make I normally have failed at about a month or two in. Some might wonder, why make a resolution at all? Although I can totally relate and have personally, at times, thought that myself, I have come see the importance of having a goal.
Thirdmill Institute, launched in 2021, continues to have wonderful, impossible goals to provide every pastor and leader with solid theological and biblical education. Impossible? Yes, I said that. But only impossible in human terms. Nothing is impossible with God. We truly believe that God has given us a wonderful mission and, regardless of resolutions, we will always be focused on providing structured biblical and theological training for the world FOR FREE.
You might be wondering, well that is great to say, but how are you possibly going to do this? The Thirdmill Institute is very unique in that it utilizes trainers and learning communities to further the biblical education of pastors and leaders throughout the world. We currently have groups in more than 20 countries and are adding more every month.
You may understand what a trainer is, someone who guides students through the Institute materials, but do you know what a learning community is?
Learning Community
Have you ever wondered about the meaning of a certain Bible passage? I know from personal experience, I tend to gain a deeper understanding of what I’ve read by discussing certain Bible passages with others. Hearing the thoughts and ideas of others helps me to think more deeply about what I’m learning. It’s this concept of a “learning community” that is integral to Thirdmill Institute.
Not only does a learning community help you grow spiritually, it also gives you an opportunity to apply what you are learning to your ministry and life. And the best part is, you can be a trainer (lead a learning community) even if you have no previous experience. Thirdmill Institute provides the “teaching” part, which allows you, as a trainer, the opportunity to lead discussions with your learning community about what you’ve learned and how to apply it to your life.
